Day 30

Someone I miss:

My mom and my sisters.  Love you all!

Well... that wraps up the 30 days.  It was fun!  Thanks for following along!

Day 29

Something that makes me smile.....
Hiding from C when I was still preggo with J.  Fun!

Learning to Live Organically: You Expect Me To Eat That?

Learning to Live Organically: You Expect Me To Eat That?: "I saw this picture yesterday and it took me on a little trip down memory lane. Memories of strawberry frozen yogurt from TCBY. ..."

Day 25

A picture of my day......

We took a tour of a cheese factory today.  We were able to find cheese that dated back to C's birth year and J's birth year.  The cheese is aged anywhere between 6 months and 8 years.  Crazy.  And good.

anti-bacterial soap... the great debate.

To use or not to use.  That is the current question.  Here's a funny fact about bacteria......The more they are exposed to anti bacterial chemicals, the more they build up resistance to them.  It's super important to only resort to taking antibiotics when absolutely necessary or they loose their effectiveness.  We are seeing a rise of what we call "super bugs" which are bacteria that have grown resistant to many antibiotics.  Regular use of antibacterial soaps is contributing to the emergence of these "super" bugs.  Here's a simple way to explain it.  When you take your first sip of alcohol, it only takes a tiny bit to make you fuzzy.  After you routinely consume said amount, you body regulates to a new normal.  Then, to achieve the same fuzzies, you need to consume more.  After that, you regulate again and it over time takes more and more and more to make you feel anything at all.  All that time, it is doing incredible damage to your body (and I bet your relationships too....  :) ).  In the same way, if you are constantly taking antibiotics, it will take stronger and stronger ones to be effective against infection in your body.  NOT TO MENTION all the antibiotics cows are pumped with to keep them from having raging mastitis.  All those meds make it into our bodies when we eat meat.  Just one of the reasons to choose organic meat.....and I digress.....
When you are always using antibacterial soaps, in the same way, the bacteria on your skin will build up resistance to the germ killing power of the soap.
I know what you are thinking.... what about after using the bathroom?  I know.  I'm with ya there.  You know how doctors give you an antibiotic prescription and tell you to not stop taking it as soon as you feel better, that you need to finish the whole thing?  That's because they are most effective when taken fully.  If you kill the germs completely, they don't have the chance to become stronger.  The problem is when the aren't eradicated completely.  Now..... there is not a soap on the market that will kill 100% of the bacteria on your skin.  And if there was, I bet it would be horridly harsh on your hands.  There is a reason though that they tell you to wash for a full 20 seconds.  That's how long it takes the soap to be the most effective.  When you wash your hands quickly in cool water... you are essentially taking an antibiotic for less than the full amount of time.  Moral of the story:

If you must use antibacterial hand soap, wash your hands thoroughly in warm water for a FULL 20 seconds.  (Sing the ABCs)
For all other washings, regular soap and water will do.

Wanna use instant sanitizer?  Make your own.

Fill a small glass spray bottle with water, and add one drop each of the essential oils cinnamon, clove, rosemary, and eucalyptus.  Mix in five drops of lemon essential oil and one teaspoon of aloe vera gel.

There you have it!

"Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God?  You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price.  Therefore honor God with your body," (1 Cor. 6:19-20).

Day 23

Picture of my favorite book

The Lord is working in Japan. Continue praying.

Let's not forget to be praying for Japan.  It's been a little over a week..... let's not let our busy lives cause us to forget.

3.22.2011

Day 22

Something I wish I was better at:

I couldn't decide between the two.

Day 21

Something I wish I could forget:

Truth be told..... all the things that have happened in my life that I would perhaps "like to forget" have been used by the Lord to bring me not only to the place where I am now, but closer to Himself.  So here is my photo for today.

Sometimes we don't understand why things happen the way they do, but we can trust that the Lord has a purpose in the things He allows us to walk through.

Day 20

A picture of somewhere I'd like to travel is

Colorado.

I have some friends I'd like to see....

Day 19

I know these are a couple days late, but I was at a conference this weekend.  Which brings me to my post:

A picture and a letter:

Dear Cheryl Brodersen~
Thank you for organizing a wonderful conference for me to attend this past weekend.  It was such a great time of refreshment in the Word.
~Regi

I'll expand on what I got out of the weekend on a later post... I'm super busy at the moment.  Catch ya'll later.

3.18.2011

Day 18

My biggest insecurity is:

How thin I am.  I'm healthy and I eat plenty...... I'm just naturally thin.  See people?  Needing to loose some weight is NOT the only body image problem out there.  People have the sense typically to not say things like...." Man!  You sure do need to drop a few" to complete strangers.  Wanna know how many people tell me that I "need to eat more and fatten up" a bit?  So many....
Guess what.  It's just as hurtful.

3.17.2011

Day 17

Something that had a large impact on my life recently is:

When my son was born.

3.14.2011

Day 14

Someone I can't imagine my life without:

My wonderful husband.

3.13.2011

Snack Chat

J and I had a little chat while he was having a snack.... he's super cute.

new hair....

Please forgive my non-made up face......

I needed some flair... It's been so long since I had flair in my hair.... I was overdue.

Even with that said... my flair is pretty minimal.

Day 13

My favorite band or artist....

Herbie Hancock

3.11.2011

Day 11

Something I hate:

日本のためにお祈りください!

Live video chat by Ustream

Please pray for Japan

As many of you know, Japan was hit by a 8.9 quake yesterday triggering a massive tsunami.  Please pray for the people in Japan.  My heart truly wishes I was able to help, but I know that the best thing I can do right now is to pray for the Japanese people.  Now is the time for the churches over there to rise up and care for the hurting people.  I pray that revival will come!

3.10.2011

Day 10

The person I caused the most trouble with was:

We used to run around her housing tract like little hooligans.  And we shut off the street lights with flashlights after dark.  Wow.  I was a boring trouble maker.

3.08.2011

Day 8

A picture of something that makes me laugh....

Fun in the sun!

See ya'll tomorrow!

Weekend Hike..

Our family took a little hike up in palm springs this past weekend.  It was so nice to be outside on such a perfect day.  This picture was taken during lunch.  It is my favorite picture from the day.  Look how sweet my boys are!

Me, sleepy boy, and my lovely sister.

He was so sleepy through the hike, but he never fell asleep.  Just too much to look at I suppose.....

It really was a beautiful spot.

A look at the canyon.

I was hoping to wash my hair in the waterfall... but alas... it was not possible.
(Note:  When washing in the waterfall... I intend to do a no-poo wash.  I have no intention of poisoning the fishies.)

3.07.2011

You know you're becoming a lactivist when.....

You notice things like this while watching tv..... I literally paused it to see "if I saw that right".

Their baby sure was a cutie pie.

Note:  I am never one to judge... especially when I don't know people or the whole story.  This post is purely an observation of the fact that I notice things like this now... I never would have before.

Congrats to the Valastro family for the newest addition to their bakin' family!

Day 7

Picture of my most treasured item.....

3.06.2011

Day 6

A person I'd love to trade places with for a day?

This one was kind of a hard one for me..... I don't generally spend much time wishing I was someone or somewhere else.  I suppose since it would only be for a day, I would choose to be someone with the ability to do something I wouldn't otherwise be able to experience.  So with that said, I present my photo:

Day 5

A photo of my favorite memory.....

August 16, 2003

Day 4

Picture of my night.....
So... sorry that I'm posting this a day late... if you look at the photo... you'll understand why.

3.02.2011
