Cold Saturday morning

This is how we are spending our chilly Saturday morning....

Reading is best when done in a cave of blankets with pillows.

Happy Saturday!  What will you do today?

Pumpkins!!

We went to the pumpkin patch with a couple of our friends last night. It wasn't a huge patch, just a fun local one. It's the second year in a row.... does that make it tradition? Last year we were fresh off the mission field.....it's crazy how much things have changed in the last 12 months.
So....we picked out a couple pumpkins, pet/fed the farm animals, ate disgusting nachos, and then had pie afterwards. Good night!
This jacket used to be mine... I'm in the process of taking it in for C-chan.  Still gotta get the shoulders narrower... but it looks cute on her so far.  And with her scarf and her boots... she looked pretty chiq!

Here they are petting the baby goat.  J-kun still barks at every animal and calls them "doggie".  It's cute.  Anyone know the sign for "goat"?

Cheesy smile!!!!

My boys..... always clownin' around!

Until next time~

Feeding the turtles

C-chan is one  brave girl.  Lemme just tell you! She is the turtle feeding, worm holding queen!  I was so proud of her today.  And she got to feed chickens today too.  It was cute.  She wanted to do it "Cinderella style". (Where you hold the bucket and sprinkle the chicken food on the floor in a graceful way....)

The food had to be mixed with veggies and warm water to make it the mushy slop that the turtles find so delectable....

Oopse.... sorry Mr. Turtle.  Didn't mean to pour food on your head!!

Yummmmmy!

Here chick chick chick.....

This lamb had a baaaaad attitude.  She pushed J-kun down!

Brave girl!  This picture was taken just before the worm "tickled" her.  LOL

Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day

Since today is  Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day, I thought I would take a few moments to share with you what helped me when I went through this.
There is a song called "Glory Baby" by a duo called Watermark that was really soothing for me when I dealt with my 2 pregnancy losses. For anyone who can't download it, here are the lyrics:

Glory baby you slipped away as fast as we could say baby…baby..
You were growing, what happened dear?
You disappeared on us baby…baby..
Heaven will hold you before we do
Heaven will keep you safe until we’re home with you…
Until we’re home with you…

Miss you everyday
Miss you in every way
But we know there’s a
day when we will hold you
We will hold you
You’ll kiss our tears away
When we’re home to stay
Can’t wait for the day when we will see you
We will see you
But baby let sweet Jesus hold you
‘till mom and dad can hold you…
You’ll just have heaven before we do
You’ll just have heaven before we do

Sweet little babies, it’s hard to
understand it ‘cause we’re hurting
We are hurting
But there is healing
And we know we’re stronger people through the growing
And in knowing-
That all things work together for our good
And God works His purposes just like He said He would…
Just like He said He would…

BRIDGE:
I can’t imagine heaven’s lullabies
and what they must sound like
But I will rest in knowing, heaven is your home
And it’s all you’ll ever know…all you’ll ever know…

It's interesting... when I was in the midst of the toughest times in my grief process, I couldn't listen to this song without skipping the part that talks about "all things working together for good..." I couldn't understand how anything about it could be considered good. I now see that the "good" for me was the realization that God can heal my broken heart. And I have a special love and compassion for hurting people that I did not have before. The experience hurt me tremendously, and softened me greatly. I love knowing that my babies are in heaven...

But I will rest in knowing, heaven is your home
And it’s all you’ll ever know…all you’ll ever know…

Imagine the joy in going straight into the arms of Jesus without the trials and hurts that are here on earth! It is that thought that got me through.

Praying blessings for all you women today. Be strong! And if you don't feel like you can be strong... be broken. It's OK. Jesus came to heal the broken. And I know! I was shattered. I'm still cracked.... but I'm ok. And you will be too.

Take a listen... it is the song you are hearing!

Haircut.

It was time for a trim.  Yay!  Short enough to spikey!

Embellished shirt

I've seen some of these cute shirts, so I decided to make a quick one for J-kun.  All I had on hand was some blue flanned left over from some diaper projects.  I think this would look better with something patterned, but it's cute none the less.

C-chan's Halloween party style!

So, my kiddo went to a friend's "Halloween Birthday Party".  It was a really cute idea/party.  C-chan wanted to be Tinkerbell (surprise surprise), so we had this cute costume that she wore, and some super cute Tink shoes.  But what to do with her hair?  Her face?  I wanted to take her costume up a notch, so we did some very glittery make-up.

For her hair, I used my waver to give it some bend.  Then I put it in a high ponytail to look kinda like Tink's bun. C-chan's hair is too short to do a big bun like that.  This is what we did.

After that, I started work on her face.  Some of you may remember last year's face paint:

Well..... she wanted something a bit more "fairy-ish" this year.  So I pulled out all my green eye shadows and some glitter and this is how we ended up lookin'

But what to do for J-kun?  Well.... that costume that C-chan wore last year was given new life.  All I did was cuff up the legs and sleeves, throw a stitch in said cuffs, and 'tada!'  costume for J-kun.  Call him Jack-Jack.  Now all I gotta do is get some red hair gel and we are all set for Halloween night.

Did I mention how much I LOOOOOVE having a sewing machine?

Until next time~

Wall Art on the cheap

So, I have this big blank spot of wall in my living room.   Since we are on a tight budget, I was thinking I would try to make some art to hang in this one spot.  So... off to the dollar tree I went.  I found these cool looking (and very light) frames.  A few sheets of white paper, a sharpie, and some crayons later, this is what I ended up with. Like?  Nothing super fancy, but kinda cute none the less.  And 3 dollars.  Can't beat that with a stick!
